Edward J. Gavin has followed the Meehan, Meehan & Gavin LLP tradition of legal excellence since joining the firm over 20 years ago. Mr. Gavin was named a partner in the firm of Meehan, Meehan & Gavin LLP in 1996. Mr. Gavin has litigated numerous criminal, civil, labor and administrative matters throughout the State of Connecticut. His success in high profile litigation in state and federal courts has earned him the reputation and recognition as a skillful trial advocate among the state Bar. He is recognized as one of Connecticut's leading defenders in complex criminal cases having litigated multiple homicide, sexual assault and drug related cases. In addition to serious felony cases, Mr. Gavin has represented many clients in vehicular homicide cases, including the defense of DWI and drug and alcohol-related crimes. His success in representing clients in suspension hearings before the Department of Motor Vehicles has earned him the recognition as a leader in the field by his peers. Mr. Gavin has lectured to various professional organizations on the defense of criminal charges in the past. Mr. Gavin is often involved in litigating cases having statewide and national significance.

The Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association is a statewide organization of approximately 350 lawyers dedicated to defending persons accused of criminal offenses. Founded in 1988, CCDLA works to improve the criminal justice system by ensuring that the individual rights guaranteed by the Connecticut and United States Constitutions are applied fairly and equally and that those rights are not diminished.

Mr. Gavin is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut and State of New York. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Gavin is also admitted to practice as a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
