Derek Hansen, Criminal Defense

As a DWI attorney Derek focuses on DWI defense and appeals. With increasingly strict DWI laws it is easier than ever to be arrested for DWI. Derek understands that being arrested and charged with a DWI is a terrifying and challenging experience but Derek is here to help. Throughout his career Derek has handled a variety of DWI defense cases including whiskey plates, b-card violations, implied consent test refusals, underage drinking and driving, stop and arrest, criminal vehicular operation, and criminal vehicular homicide. Derek’s goal is to lessen the burden placed on the motorist, their spouse, children, and employer of the motorist, as well as mitigate the legal consequences that result from a drug or alcohol driving related offense.

Derek Hansen graduated from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2013. During law school Derek worked as a Student Certified Attorney for both the Legal Rights Center and YouthLink. Throughout his second and third year, Derek clerked at Ryan Pacyga Criminal Defense. In that position Derek drafted countless legal memoranda addressing constitutional and procedural violations as well as memoranda concerning unlawful searches and seizures.

Derek resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his spare time, Derek can be found running the lakes, playing ice hockey, or watching sports.
