Background and Experience
Howard Stein has been practicing law for 25 years in Washington State. He has been a prosecutor, a defense attorney, a plaintiff’s attorney, and a pro tem judge. He has represented individuals at all levels of litigation in Washington.
Under his leadership, the firm has briefed, appeared, and argued numerous cases before the Washington State Supreme Court. He has won important cases which have shaped ‘Driving Under the Influence’ law and overturning the actions of the Department of Licensing. He has also negotiated and settled hundreds of cases to his client’s great satisfaction.
Howard established his career as a criminal defense attorney as an assistant prosecuting attorney and criminal prosecutor with the Pierce County Prosecutor’s office in 1983. This experience has been invaluable as a criminal defense attorney.
In 1984, he began working in the Law Office of Janet Jordan Dillon. He gained experience during his year there in Federal Indian Law.
From 1985–1987, Howard represented the cities of Buckley, Carbonado and North Bend for the law offices of Kirshenbaum and Combs. He gained further experience in Criminal Prosecution and Defense.
He became a shareholder in the six-attorney Law Offices of Tucker & Stein, P.S., Inc. in 1987. The firm emphasized Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, and Small Business Representation. In 2006, he became the principle shareholder in The Law offices of Stein, Lotzkar & Starr P.S., Inc.
This firm has focused on Criminal Defense, Plaintiff Personal Injury, Expungement, Domestic Disturbance, DUI, Traffic Infractions and Appeals.
