Laura has also completed the two-week rigorous Trial Practice Institute offered by the National Criminal Defense College, which provided her with advanced jury trial training and experience.

One of Laura’s key areas of interest is defending crimes involving sexual allegations. Laura knows that many issues can form the root of such allegations, and, while society is quick to pass judgment on such charges, sex crimes cases often involve much more than meets the eye. Laura has attended several seminars sponsored by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers that focus on defending people charged with serious sex crimes. She actively advances her ability to effectively represent her clients charged with sex crimes by staying current on trends in law and psychology.

While in law school, Laura worked with both the Public Defender in Darlington County, South Carolina and the Federal Public Defender in Charleston, South Carolina.

Laura is a 2004 graduate of Clemson University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in English. She spends her free time enjoying the beauty of the Upstate with her three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
