Hulnick, Stang, Gering & Leavitt, P.A.

Leslie F. Hulnick is a New York State native who earned his J.D. from the University of Denver in 1975. He maintains the highest rating (“5.0/5.0 AV Preeminent”) from the renowned Martindale-Hubbell rating system. He is a founding member, past dean, and now a Fellow of the National College for DUI Defense. He was the recipient, at Harvard University, of the Erwin-Taylor Award in July, 2014 at the Summer Session of the National College for DUI Defense for his lifetime accomplishments and contributions not only the National College, but also to the entire defense community.

An active member in the legal community, Mr. Hulnick has chaired and served on local and national legal organization committees including having been a founding member and past president of the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. As president of the Wichita Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee, he was instrumental in changing local rules on jury selection; the jury pool was opened to include licensed vehicle drivers. Mr. Hulnick was honored to receive the Wichita Bar Association’s President’s Award for these efforts to reform the jury pool system. He has authored “The Law of DUI,” and “The Law of Preliminary Hearings”, as published in the Kansas Bar Association’s Criminal Law Handbook.

Mr. Hulnick has lectured for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers at its annual DUI seminar in Las Vegas. He has also spoken to groups, including the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Wichita Bar Association, the National Conference of Sheriffs and Chiefs, the Western Conference of Forensic Pathologists, the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, the Kansas Hospital Association, the Washburn University School of Law C.L.E. Program, the American College of Legal Medicine, the Texas Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association. Topics have included “Defending DUI”, “Dealing With an Expert Witness”, “Ethics of Criminal Trial Lawyers”, Dangers of Criminal Prosecution of Physicians”, “Cross Examination of Field Sobriety Tests”, and “Environmental Conditions Regarding Field Sobriety Tests”.
