Nancy was assigned to the Violent Crimes and Major Offender Section of the Texas Attorney General’s office. This section was responsible for prosecuting cases that were either too complex or specialized for local county prosecutors. In this position she was flown around the State of Texas prosecuting Capital Murder, Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Assault- Family Violence cases.

The final case Nancy prosecuted as a member of the Violent Crimes Section was the Capital Murder case of State of Texas vs. Crispin Harmelin Williamson County, Texas. The case was a 2009 murder wherein the defendant kidnapped, robbed, raped, and strangled the victim not once, but twice. The cause of death was a case of first impression in Texas and likely the world because the victim died of delayed death by strangulation. The victim actually survived both strangulations and lived for almost 13 hours after the assault. However, the multiple strangulations caused massive brain damage and she wound up sitting in her hot car, not running and with the windows rolled up, in the Texas summer heat for 13 hours, basically baking to death because she was unable to save herself.

Nancy experienced a large amount of exposure for her exceptional litigation skills in the Crispin Harmelcase. After years in the exhaustive position with the OAG’s office, Nancy decided she wanted to focus her practice to one area of Texas; to help out the accused in Travis County, Hays County, and Williamson County.

The knowledge Nancy gained in these complex and scientifically intensive cases gave her the perfect combination of trial skill and experience to defend DWI, Drug, and Family Violence cases.

Prior to being recruited to the elite Violent Crimes and Major Offender’s Section of the OAG’s office Nancy was a felony prosecutor in Dallas County, then Nueces County, Texas.
