Patrick E. Maher, P.A.

He has been practicing criminal defense, with a focus on DUI law, for over 20 years. Several years ago, he realized that while experience is important, comprehensive training is what separates attorneys who defend DUI cases as part of their criminal law practice and those who excell in DUI defense. The field of DUI law is complex and challenging and he was determined to learn more.

In 2003, he joined the National College for DUI Defense and has attended their intensive Summer Session curriculum every year.

He has received extensive training in the administration of standardized field sobriety tests (SFST's) and he is currently certified as a SFST practitioner and instructor. He has also completed the advanced SFST course and the refresher course. He is the only attorney in the State of Maryland, and one of a handful in the country, who obtained specialized training at the factory where the breath test machine is manufactured in St. Louis, Missouri. He is factory trained and certified as a breath test operator, calibration technician and instructor. He is also the only attorney in Maryland who is the sole owner of of the breath test device (Intox EC/IR) used in Maryland State courts up until 2011. Maryland is now using the EC/IR II.

He regularly attends national and state DUI seminars to stay abreast of cutting edge defenses. In addition, he has been invited to speak throughout Maryland and other states about DUI related issues.

In his free time, he is a dedicated husband and father, avid sports and music fan, and he enjoys the outdoors with his friends and family. He is involved in the Boy Scouts of America through the Dulaney District of the Baltimore Area Council.
